Primary Care CPD Webinar: Cancer Screening Updates

Dear Primary Care Provider,

 

The Central Regional Cancer Program is holding a free accredited two-part CPD webinar on Cancer Screening Program Updates for Primary Care on Wednesday, February 1st and Wednesday, February 8th from 6:00-7:00pm. The sessions will be moderated by Dr. Alan Kaplan, Regional Primary Care Lead.

 

Session 1 (Feb 1st): Colorectal and Lung Cancer Screening
Speakers: Dr. David Baron, Regional GI Endo and Colorectal Screening Lead and Dr. Alan Kaplan, Regional Primary Care Lead

Session 2 (Feb 8th): Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening

Speakers: Dr. Samantha Fienberg, Clinical Lead, OBSP and Dr. Felice Lackman, Regional Cervical Screening and Colposcopy Lead

The sessions will cover updated program information and discussion of Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario's guidelines for screening and appropriate referral for each of the Ontario organized screening programs, OBSP, OCSP, CCC and OLSP. Topics include:
- current state of Ontario and the Central Region screening volumes and backlog from the pandemic
- impact of cancer screening disruptions on screen-detected pre-cancers and cancers during the pandemic
- updated referral, follow up and surveillance guidance
- update on OCSP HPV testing implementation and progress
- determining who truly requires colonoscopy and appropriate FIT testing for colorectal cancer screening
- an opportunity to ask questions and engage with the Clinical Leads

 

This one-credit-per-hour Group Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by Continuing Professional Development, Temerty School of Medicine, University of Toronto for up to 2.0 Mainpro+ credits.
