EYRND OHT Update: Welcome our new Chair and Primary Care Advisory Council Members

Dear EYRND OHT Physicians,

My two year term as your Chair of the Primary Care Advisory Council (PCAC) ends in just over two weeks. The formation and development of our Ontario Health Team (OHT) and our Primary Care Association in the chaos of this pandemic has been an amazing achievement.

As we move forward in our OHT, there remains a lot of uncertainty, but also a lot of opportunity. We have learned in this pandemic that we are stronger working together.

And on this thread of working together, it is a pleasure to announce that we have acclaimed, with the unanimous support of our current PCAC, our next PCAC Chair, Dr. Cristina Popa.

Dr. Popa is an Emergency Physician with Markham Stouffville Hospital, who has worked with many of you as the physician lead of the COVID-19 vaccination clinic and assessment centre. She brings a passion for collaboration and building stronger relationships between primary care, the hospital and community care agencies.

Along with Dr. Popa, we also have new members joining PCAC, Dr. Michael Kim from Toronto Street Medical Centre and Andrea Groff, Executive Director at Health For All FHT. Dr. Dhar Doobay will stay on as Vice-Chair of PCAC and Dr. Allan Grill will remain as a member of PCAC. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing members of PCAC who will also come to the end of their two year terms. Dr. Ron Esterbaur, Dr. Alvin Tam and Dr. Dennis Wong.


I am very excited for our incoming PCAC team to continue building our Primary Care Association and supporting the development of our OHT. Their term will start in March 2022.
