Coverage in Congregate Settings, Cath Lab Update
Hi OHT Physicians,
A few updates
Opportunity to Provide Coverage in Congregate Settings
MSH is funding a collaborative effort with the OHT to provide temporary on-site physician coverage to retirement homes, group homes and shelters that lack this support.
We are looking for physicians to cover the next 7 weeks (May 11 – 17, May 18 – 24, May 25 – 31, June 1 – 7, June 8 – 14, June 15 – 21, June 22 – 28). The physician is expected to be available by phone from Monday to Sunday and to provide in-person assessments as needed. Currently the main need is at one facility on outbreak that needs rounding 2-3 times per week. There is a weekly stipend.
If you are interested in providing this temporary stipended weekly coverage, please email me with your weeks available by Friday, May 8th.
This is a short-term program to allow time for these congregate settings to plan for ongoing physician coverage. If you are interested in working with retirement homes, group homes or shelters in the longer-term, please reach out to me and I can connect you.
Cardiac Cath lab - Southlake Regional Health Centre (SRHC)
If you are worried about a patient with suspected coronary artery disease, you can refer directly to the SRHC cath lab. Patients can expect a call within 2 business days of a referral. If they are deemed high risk they will be booked urgently, otherwise they will be triaged and checked weekly to ensure stable symptoms. Guidelines for cath lab priority, referral form and CCS angina classification attached.
PPE in Your Office
The availability of PPE in our primary care offices is a continuing challenge. I have attached PDF from Ontario Health that highlights conservation strategies and who to notify of PPE needs. Please take a few minutes to fill in this primary care PPE survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PrimaryCare_PPESurvey_Apr29. Results are brought forward to Ontario Health to address ongoing primary care PPE needs. If you have a critical PPE shortage with < 7 day supply there is a new streamlined process to request help: https://ehealthontario.on.ca/en/for-healthcare-professionals/ppe-intake?a=ppe-intake.
Stay well!
