EYRND OHT Updates and Holiday Wishes
Dear OHT Physicians,
With the rise of Omicron, in some ways I feel like we're back to March 2020 with things changing by the hour. Thank you all for working so tirelessly through this pandemic. We must acknowledge the incredible work that we have done, from the pivot to virtual care, ramping up our clinics to more in-person care, while also supporting vaccination and assessments.
Earlier this week we all received the OMA Alert with an urgent call to support vaccination. It comes at a difficult time, as we are all tired. Please take a break these holidays to rest, recharge and enjoy time with friends and family (even if it has to be done virtually).
If you have capacity to support the vaccination ramp-up at mass clinics or in your office, please connect with your Public Health Unit contact.
York Region: HEOCLiaison@york.ca and Fareen.Karachiwalla@york.ca
Durham Region: Robert.Kyle@durham.ca and Pepi.McTavish@durham.ca.
The Carefirst Cough Cold & Flu Clinic is ramping up and if you have capacity and interest in supporting this, please contact Roger.Ma@carefirstontario.ca.
Hot off the press are 2 updated provincial guidance documents, which I have attached to this email:
COVID-19 Case, Contact and Outbreak Management Interim GuidanceL Omicron Surge from the Ministry of Health
Interim IPAC Recommendations for Use of Personal Protective Equipment for Care of Individuals with Suspect or Confirmed COVID-19 from Public Health Ontario.
Primary Care Advisory Council Elections will occur in February 2023. There will be a vacancy for 1 Chair, 3 Physician members and 1 Administrator member. Attached are job descriptions and application forms for the positions. We need to ensure that Primary Care continues to lead and support the development of our OHT. This is an excellent opportunity to bring your ideas on health systems improvement to the table. Applications are due January 20, 2023. Please email me at emilielam@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Wishing you all the best for a safe and happy holiday season!
